How to Find a Post Office Near You

When you move to a new location, have mail that's missing or need to take advantage of services like passport processing, you may need to visit a post office near you. Thanks to the United States Postal Service (USPS) website, it's easier than ever to find a nearby location. All you need is a zip code or a city to find all the post offices in your community and beyond.

Go to the USPS Website

The first thing you need to do is go online using your computer or mobile device and visit the USPS website at USPS.com. On the site, click on the icon at the top of the page that says "Locations" and wait for that page to load.

Select Your Information

On the Locations page, you have a few options. First, the drop-down menu for "Location Types" has options like post offices, or you can choose self-serve kiosks or various services offered by the USPS. After selecting a type, enter your zip code or city and state in the box next to it. Another drop-down menu allows you to select a range in miles (from one to 100) for relevant locations. Next, click on the search button.

Look at the Search Results

If you don't receive a list of results, you may need to go back and expand the number of miles for your search radius. When the list of results appears, it includes information about the address, distance from your location, operating hours and available services at the various locations. Parking information may also be available.

Use the Map if Necessary

An interactive map on the site shows you where each post office on the list is located geographically. You can click on an entry on the search results page to highlight it on the map. You can also zoom in and out and move the map around to see where other results are located.

Contact USPS if Necessary

If you can't find a post office near you or you're still not sure where a post office is located or which services it offers, you can contact the USPS at 1-800-ASK-USPS. Representatives are available Monday through Saturday during specific hours.
